HR Director Danielle Truesdale’s Story is One of Perseverance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Truesdale.

Danielle, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story is about perseverance – and what happens when you believe in yourself and give back to those around you.

I moved to Atlanta 28 years ago – my dad was military and this was our last move before he retired. I’ve always been career-oriented and determined, but life took a detour in high school when I got pregnant with my daughter. At that point, I decided that I wouldn’t let my circumstances stop me from pushing towards my goals.

My career started in accounting in the construction industry as part of a high school work program. Five years later, I started working with a great company in the advertising/marketing industry where I began handling some HR duties. It was there that I found my real calling. I am passionate about helping companies shape how they invest in their people, and helping those people rise to their true potential.

Three years ago, PrimeRevenue was looking for a global HR manager. At the time, my experience in HR was limited to startups. PrimeRevenue, on the other hand, was an established fintech company with offices around the globe. But I sat down with PJ Bain, the CEO of PrimeRevenue, and made the case for my determination, drive, and passion for helping people.

That was a game-changing moment for me. I was vying for a position that typically requires more experience. But what I lacked in that area I made up for in sharing the company’s values. Fast forward to today and I’m managing a global and growing HR team. PrimeRevenue has grown from 60 to 150 employees and it continues to be one of the most inspiring places I’ve ever worked. And, my lovely daughter just finished her freshman year of college!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I had my daughter my senior year of high school and have been a single mother since then. It has been a tremendous challenge and blessing. Having a child at a young age forced me to grow up quicker than my peers. While my friends were away exploring the college experience, I was balancing motherhood, work, and my education. My experiences inspired me to give back to others – especially young women. I’ve been involved in mentoring programs for some time and am looking forward to growing that dimension of my life. Everyone deserves the opportunity to reach their potential and it’s something I’m very passionate about!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about PrimeRevenue – what should we know?
PrimeRevenue is a provider of supply chain finance technology and services. Our solutions help companies of all sizes improve cash flow so they can grow, survive and thrive. There are a lot of things that make PrimeRevenue stand out in the marketplace, but the most important one are its values. We don’t just talk about them, we live them.

We call it “PRIDE + Integrity” at PrimeRevenue. It stands for Performance, Respect, Innovation, Diversity, Excellence with Integrity. We are all high-performers and are expected to do our job well. Respect one another regardless of where you sit in the organization. Innovation – we constantly try to be better at what we do. Diversity in this company isn’t about gender or color – it’s about inclusiveness. We strive for excellence and we do it with integrity. Do what you say you’re going to do when you say you’re going to do it and do the right thing.

For the 5th year in a row, we’ve been named one of the INC 5000 Fast Growing Companies and have been voted one of the best places to work in Atlanta by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
First and foremost, my daughter and my family. I have been fortunate to have many champions/mentors in my corner along the way and I am very thankful for those relationships.

Also, the leadership team at PrimeRevenue. They took a leap of faith when they hired me. I remember the CEO being pretty frank with me about his concerns. I didn’t have 15 years of HR experience like many of the other candidates interviewing for that position, but my values aligned with the company’s and that was important to them.
